Sumner Stroh, an Instagram model, says she slept with Adam Levine for a year and that he wants to name his next child after her.
Stroh, who is 23 years old and just graduated from the University of Texas, posted a TikTok video on Monday that talked about her alleged affair. As of Monday afternoon, more than two million people had watched the video.
Levine, who is 43 years old, has been married to Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo since 2014. The alleged affair with Stroh is said to have happened while they were married. Stroh’s claims come just three days after Prinsloo posted a picture of her baby bump on Instagram, showing that she and Levine were expecting their third child together.
Stroh says on TikTok that she was “young and naive” at the time of the alleged fair. Now that she thinks about it, she feels like the Maroon 5 singer “used” her. She also says that she wasn’t as important as a model at the time and that she was easy to control.
In her video, Stroh shows what she says are screenshots of messages she and Levine sent to each other on Instagram. In one message, Levine is said to have written, “I can’t believe how fucked up hot you are. Like, “I can’t believe it.” Stroh says, “Well, I mean, I agree. When I saw you in person, I thought, “I’m screwed.”
Stroh stopped talking to Levine after seeing him for about a year. But on June 1, she says, the singer “came back into [her] life” by contacting her again on Instagram.
Another screenshot shows a message that Levine is said to have sent. “Ok serious question. It says, “I’m having another child, and if it’s a boy, I really want to name him Sumner.” “Is that okay with you? “This is DEAD serious.”
In the video, Stroh says at this point that she “has to be in hell” and seems annoyed by the singer’s request.
Stroh says of the affair, “My morals were broken without my knowing it, and I was completely tricked.”
The model says she didn’t want to tell anyone about the singer and their affair at first because she “knew what it would mean” for her career if she did. She says she “recklessly” sent screenshots of her messages with Levine to her friends, and one of them tried to sell them to a tabloid. Stroh says this is why she came forward with her claims.
She wrote in the caption of her video, “Embarrassed I was involved with a man with this complete lack of regret and respect.”
People on TikTok had different reactions to Stroh’s claims. Some people thought it was really strange that Levine wanted to name his child after his mistress.
“HE WANTED TO NAME THE BABY AFTER YOU. IS HE OK???” One viewer wrote a comment in all capital letters.
Most commenters, though, were more interested in how Stroh put her claims. Several viewers wondered how she could have been “led” to have an affair with a famous man who was known to be married to someone else. Some people said that she should have said sorry to Prinsloo in her video.
One viewer said, “But you knew he was married.”
“Wait, why are people saying, ‘I’m sorry you had to go through that?’… He was married in a very public way… “How did he get you to cheat on your husband?” a second person said something.
A third wrote, “Wait, I’m not sure what you mean when you say your morals were broken without your knowledge and you were tricked? You knew he was married, but you still planned to marry him?
Several people said that Prinsloo was the real victim of the alleged affair and that they stood by her.
“Everyone knows he’s been married for ten years. “The only people hurt by this are his wife and kids,” said one user.
“What you’re feeling is called guilt. Another user wrote, “You weren’t the victim here.”
The Daily Dot wrote a TikTok comment and sent an email to Stroh. They also sent an email to a representative for Levine.
