The 40-year-old singer has collaborated with Dolly, 76, to record a brand-new duet version of ‘9 to 5,’ which Dolly first released as a song in 1980 – and Kelly has showered praise on the musical classic.
“I am very thrilled that Dolly asked me to re-imagine this famous song, ‘9 to 5,’ with her! She is so amazing, an example to all women, and one of the loveliest people you will ever meet!” she said.
Kelly enjoyed working with the award-winning country vocalist.
“I hope y’all appreciate what we accomplished, but even if you don’t, remember I got to perform a duet with the beautiful Dolly Parton, and now have bragging rights til the end of time!” she said in a statement.
Similarly, Dolly enjoyed working with Kelly, stating that she can make any song “come alive.”
“Nobody sings like Kelly Clarkson. She brings any song to life. I love her voice on ‘9 to 5,’ and I am so glad I got to sing with her on it,” she remarked.
Meanwhile, Kelly recently confirmed that her breakup from Brandon Blackstock will be explored in her forthcoming album.
The ‘Behind These Hazel Eyes’ hitmaker said that some of her new material will be about her marriage’s demise.
Kelly, who has two children with her ex-husband, River, eight, and Remington, six, explained: “When my ex and I initially divorced, there were many feelings; it was rough. My producer and I were joking yesterday because I was like, ‘Remember that time we wrote, like, 25 songs in a week?’
“A lot of those are on the album; I literally wrote the majority of these over two years ago, and I told my label, ‘I can’t talk about this until I’ve gone through it,’ and it’s just taken some time to do that.”
